Rev. Gerry Giles is an ordained elder in the Global Methodist Church. He has previously served as Executive Pastor at Marvin Methodist Church in Tyler as well as serving previously at St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Tyler, First Methodist Church of Murchison and New Hope Methodist Church near Brownsboro.

Gerry is married to his bride Laura, and they have lived at Hideaway Lake since 2022. They have three adult children and five grandchildren. Sharing their home with them are two adorable Scottish Terriers.

Gerry was born in Celina, Texas and grew up on a farm near the community of Weston in Collin County attending the local Methodist church with his parents, both of whom were educators – for the entirety of his elementary education, his mother was his teacher. Gerry attended junior high and high school in McKinney where he graduated from McKinney High School in 1978. He attended East Texas State University before transferring to North Texas State University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1977.

During his first career as a Certified Public Accountant, Gerry worked for larger international accounting firms before transitioning to an internal auditor with Texas Health Resources in Dallas. This career led Gerry and Laura to Tyler in 2007 where he led the internal auditing function at Trinity Mother Frances Health System.

On January 18, 2009, while attending worship at Marvin Methodist Church, Gerry experienced a silent yet definitive calling to serve in the ministry full-time. He began his ministerial training at the United Methodist Course of Study progress at Perkins School of Theology from which he graduated in 2014.

Gerry loves to play golf and also to enjoy his hobby of model railroading. Laura and Gerry love to travel and take car trips together.
